Somizi Blasts Racist Butchery Advert And Everyone Agrees
Somizi “Somgaga” Mhlongo was left angry and fuming over a racist advert that went viral on social media recently. The popular tv and radio personality aired his dissatisfaction to him over 3 million followers on Instagram. Somizi shamed the racist butchery advert which encouraged patrons to order their meat deliberately categorizing it’s meat and allocating the “cheapest” meat to domestic workers. The butchery, CY Frozen Foods, based in Limpopo, is one of the butcheries open due to them providing essential services. Their obvious racial profiling ad sent Twitter and Instagram into a frenzy calling for legal action to be instituted against them.
The racist butchery advert that caused the storm read :
“We are still open and ready to serve you. In order to make things easy and convenient, we will be doing deliveries on orders R300 and above. Payments strictly cash. For all your ” braaivleis” needs from rump, fillet and t-bone steaks. Chicken products like drumsticks and wings. Mince and Ouma Boerewors. For your domestic worker, we have chicken necks, gizzards head and feet etc.
Twitter was awash with comments asking for C Y Frozen foods to explain the meaning of their blatant derogatory statement.
