Dineo Ranaka bares her soul
South African media personality, Dineo Ranaka spoke candidly in a recent interview with, Mac G on his Youtube Podcast series, Podcast With Mac G. As the interview smoothly progressed, Dineo dropped a bombshell that she had been raped by one of her ex partners.
The interview was conducted at Dineo’s home, of which Mac G marvelled at. He then playfully quizzed her if it had anything to do with ”Metro FM money”, of which Dineo agreed to but attributed her blessings largely to God, as many of her followers know that she is a highly spiritual being.
Working at a reputable radio station such as, Metro FM has served mostly as a catalyst to the positive trajectory in Dineo’s career as she had been presented with numerous lucrative deals. The mother of two then revealed that she receives no financial support from both the fathers of her children, Kgosi and Kopano.
About the amazing opportunity at Metro FM, she said:
”I am not going to pretend like Metro FM hasn’t changed my life. It has flipped my life over and not just my own life but my family’s and children’s lives.”
The Metro FM presenter then touched on the situation regarding the fathers of her two children.
”It has been hard, it’s been real and that time I am a single mother. I am not getting any financial support from any of my baby daddies, nothing whatsoever. And I am not playing them down but I am talking about my real truth and struggles and what l was faced with.”
The conversation then flowed to Dineo opening up about the extent of various forms of abuse that she had to endure at the hands of her former partners, including being raped by one of them. She quickly added that this incident is not one that she talks about.
In her own words, Dineo Ranaka said the following:” I will not be of service to any man that is underservicing me.” Dineo then proceeded to add: ”I have been raped by my own partner, I just don’t talk about it. I am not even lying about it. I don’t glorify my pain, I would rather glorify my happiness.”
About living a positive life, Dineo Ranaka stated the following:
”I will put my happiness on the billboard because that is what deserves my energy. Anything that is negative (that has happened to me) deserves not to be given the power to take residency in me.”
Other local celebrities that are victims of sexual violations include, Skeem Saam actress, Amanda du Pont, who once opened up during a magazine interview about being raped by a former lover who is also in the entertainment industry. Upon this revelation, scores of people suspected that her perpetrator was rapper and former boyfriend, Jub Jub but she later came out to rubbish the suspicions.
Khumbulekhaya host, Andile Gaelisiwe has previously spoken out about her rape ordeal at the hands of her own father and a taxi driver. The media personality has since encouraged other rape victims to speak up and not cower in embarrassment.
