Former Rhythm City and Uzalo actor Sipho Ngema’s cause of death finally revealed

“SIPHO was like a big brother.”

These were the words of Hector Dludla and Herbert Hadebe when they heard actor Sipho Ngema had died.

The three met in 2004 on the set of e.tv soapie Scandal! and became such close friends they were known as the Three Musketeers.

Sipho was a props manager for Scandal! and had acted on shows such as Rhythm City, Uzalo, Isipho: The Gift and Hope on Moja Love.

He died of heart failure on Tuesday night after spending two months at a hospital in Joburg. Hector got the news on Wednesday morning after having dreamt Sipho was gone the previous night.

“I dreamt of people wearing church clothes and singing. In the dream the pastor showed me a body lying down and I saw who it was when I came closer.”

Hector, a cameraman on Rhythm City, said Sipho was spiritual.

“He always made sense and his advice was very good. I’m at a los for words right now.

“We can just be there for his family. He was very supportive.”

Herbert, a director, said he was still in shock.

“On my way to work, I’d pick him up at his home in Meadowlands in Soweto. He always talked about acting,” he said.

“I used to tell him when I get married he’ll be my pastor even though he isn’t one.

He always saw the good in people and was positive.”
