From the expensive designer dresses to the five-star reception venues, no expense is spared whenever A-list stars plan their big day.
One local celeb’s ceremony reportedly cost over R1 million!
Here’s a look at celebrity weddings in South Africa that blew our minds.
Mr & Mrs Ndlovu: Hungani and Stephanie
celebs favourite couple might made fan’s wishes come true. This is when Stephanie Sandows and Hungani Ndlovu both took to social media to post cryptic pictures of what looked like them tying the knot.
And, yes they did get married in 2020.
A letter addressing the couple as ‘Mr and Mrs Ndlovu’ from Clover Bliss, also gave fans some assurance that they indeed said their nuptials.
With much anticipation, the fans finally got a taste of Hungani and Stephanie’s special day. Hungani posted the wedding video which highlighted preparations for their wedding day and the actual wedding. The extravagant wedding was attended by their close friends and family.
Dineo Moeketsi and Zothile ‘Solo’ Langa
Dineo Moeketsi and Solo Langa held their white wedding in September 2019. The outdoor ceremony was held at The Forum Embassy Hill in Cape Town. Dineo’s gorgeous gown was designed by Orapeleng Medupe. Solo was dressed by Otiz Seflo.
Some of the star-studded guests included Connie Ferguson, Rami Chuene, LootLove and Reason.
Dineo changed into a second dress for the wedding reception. The strapless Neviole dress gown was just as gorgeous as the one she wore for the ceremony.
Dineo and Solo hosted their traditional ceremony a few months before their white wedding. The couple is yet to share pictures of themselves from the ceremony. Dineo did, however, post a few images of the reception decor for their traditional wedding.
Somizi Mhlongo and Mohale Motaung
Somizi Mhlongo and Mohale Motaung’s lavish traditional ceremony was dubbed the wedding of the decade. The grooms looked like Egyptian royalty in custom-made Get-Johan Coetzee outfits. Somizi and Mohale changed five times throughout the day!
Their reception décor would put every royal wedding to shame. A nine-tier cake and two chandelier cakes almost stole the spotlight. Somizi and Mohale sat on extravagant thrones at their reception.
The who’s who of the entertainment industry were invited to the celebration. Cassper Nyovest, Pearl Thusi, Bonang Matheba, Kelly Khumalo, Khanyi Mbau and Lerato Kganyago were just some of the stars in attendance. The spectacular outfits worn to the #SomhaleTraditionalWedding were fit for a red-carpet event.
Somizi and Mohale are planning an even bigger party for their white wedding in January 2020.
Kwesta and his long-term partner Yolanda Mvelase hosted their wedding in March 2019. The ceremony was held at the Thaba Eco Hotel in Johannesburg.
The ceremony was a small one with only close family and friends attending. A handful of Kwesta’s celebrity pals were there to support him on his big day. Kid X, Sjava, Dr Malinga and Ringo Madlingozi were some of the A-list guests at the wedding.

Sarah Langa and Jehan Mackay’s fairy tale wedding in 2016 was a posh affair. The model wore two dresses on her big day. Both outfits were designed by Gert-Johan Coetzee.
“Still can’t get over @gertjohancoetzee work. I admire the level of skill and craftsmanship that was put into creating the dresses of my dreams. I am so proud that I got to wear three of your pieces for my wedding and Lobola celebration, throughout the build-up of these important days I had not even a single worry in mind because I knew I was in safe hands. I really couldn’t have chosen better,” Sarah wrote about her wedding dress.
The wedding planner who helped Sarah put her traditional and white ceremonies won an international award for her efforts. Wedding Concepts’ Christina Holt won the best cultural wedding at the Belief Awards in 2018.
Minnie Dlamini and Quinton Jones
Minnie Dlamini and Quinton Jones’ 2017 white wedding reportedly cost more than R1-million. While many brands were falling over themselves to sponsor some of the concepts for their big day, the couple forked out hundreds of thousands of Rands of their own money. Their wedding planner’s services alone cost a whopping R500 000.
Minnie and Quinton’s special day was held in Cape Town. Minnie wore a gorgeous wedding dress designed by Gert-Johan Coetzee. Some of the celebrity guests included Somizi Mhlongo, Unathi, Roxy Burger and Hulisani Ravele.

Enhle Mbali and Black Coffee’s white wedding was put together by actress-turned-event-planner Sophie Ndaba. The couple first got married in 2011 but never had a white wedding. They decided to throw themselves their dream wedding in January 2017.
Sadly, Enhle and Black Coffee’s fairy tale romance was dealt a blow in 2019. The couple is allegedly on the verge of a divorce and in the same year, Enhle and Black Coffee did confirm they were getting a divorce.
Mmatema Moremi and Tshepo Gavu
Mmatema Moremi and Tshepo Gavu held their traditional and white weddings in early 2019. While most brides opt for the Cinderella-like white gown, Mmatema wore a red dress on her wedding day. EFF leader Julius Malema and politician Mbuyiseni Ndlozi attended the celebrations.
