Rhythm City’s Suffocate Ndlovu Dies And Joins Imbewu

Award-winning actor Mduduzi Mabaso who is famous for his portrayal of Suffocate Ndlovu on Rhythm City has ended his time with the e.tv soapie. However, many Rhythm City fans were left heartbroken after Suffocate Ndlovu died on his last episode. Mabaso has now joined another e.tv soapie, Imbewu: The Seed.

Suffocate died after he was shot three times in the chest by Pearl Gennaro. This came about after Khulekani Ngobese who had been trying to get rid of Suffocate for some time now engineered his death. Suffocate had helped Khulekani to kill David Genaro in the past.

However, Khulekani turned on his former partner in crime and threw Suffocate under the bus by giving Genaro’s daughter, Pearl a doctored video of what happened when her father was murdered. Pearl then confronted and shot Suffocate in front of his workers.

Mabaso will now be playing a “self-made millionaire who moves to Joburg to start a new life” on e.tv’s Imbewu. According to a statement released by e.tv, Mabaso will play the role of Majozi who went to school with Zimele.

The statement further added that Mabaso will be bringing more uncertainty to the character of Ngcolosi as he pays a surprise visit to his wife, MaZulu. This appears to be a great move for Mabaso as he’s been playing the role of Suffocate Ndlovu for almost 10-years.

Speaking about his new role during an interview a few years back, Mabaso said

“The role is quite different. I didn’t get much of an explanation about the character (when I started) so I made it my own. I am trying hard to step away from characters I have played in the past so I tried to make him as different as I could. He is not a gangster or criminal. He is an honest businessman.”
