GREAT NEWS For #JohnVuliGate Viral Girls And A Message For The Haters

Social media’s powers never go unproven as an innocent video of a group of young girls having fun can have a larger impact and grow their bank accounts. However not everyone will be excited for the girls who made the #JohnVuliGate song and dance trend, as some have resorted to name-calling and speaking ill of them.

Speaking to Daily Sun, the ladies who captured a moment where they were having fun at a petrol station and went viral instantly, said the video’s impact went beyond even their wildest dreams.

Tshegofatso Maepa, Katlego Mohlahlo, Kgomotso Aphane, Oratilwe Mokwatlo and Lebogang Motalane were celebrating their friends birthday when they decided to make a stop at a petrol station and recorded themselves dancing to the song by Mapa A Jazz’s called John Vuli Gate. In the process they opened a window of opportunities for themselves as they got calls from clothing brands and alcoholic companies wanting to work with them.

The birthday girl Kgomotso Aphane said they never planned on making a viral video but the idea came from a friend who posted the challenge, “A friend posted the John Vuli Gate challenge on her WhatsApp status and we loved it.”

Speaking on the negativity from people who reduced them to ‘slay queens’ by calling them mean words, one of the friends said, “We’re young and had fun without a man around us. That’s why people are bitter. I don’t see the need to explain ourselves.”

Not letting the negativity get to them, they understand that people will always talk hence their disregard for internet bullies. “As for the word stoko, it’s been there for ages. Boys have been calling women that and it’s normal.”

Actress Dineo Langa was also disgusted at the sexual predators who sexualized the girls, and called them out for it saying they are young and should be allowed to have fun without men making them feel uncomfortable.

“I love the Beyoncé of the ‘John vuli gate’ video … Young, carefree and absolutely the girl she thinks she is in that pleated leather skirt. I am disgusted by men who are in the comments section, hoping and praying that the lead lady’s skirt goes up due to a sudden gust of wind. Let girls have fun in peace yerrrr!” she tweeted.

Another male commented saying he wished the wing would blow up her skirt, Dineo slammed him and told him to check himself.

“Be ashamed brother. What you just said is very predatory. Check yourself for wanting to peek under a young girl’s skirt without her permission,” Dineo said.
