Mzansi Start #OutsuranceMustFall After Dropping Katlego Maboe

In the continually unfolding drama of Katlego Maboe and the leaked video of him admitting to have stepped out on his wife and possibly infected her with a STD that might have affected her fertility.

When the story first broke on Friday, Katlego was at the receiving end of the backlash. Feminists were dragging him through the murder for being the quintessential men-are-trash archetype. Black women hated for not only marrying a “non-sister.” And then he went on to choose to step out on the “non-sister” with another “non-sister.” Katlego through his actions made sure we all know that he has a type. Well, except that rumored time with former SABC 3 personality, Lorna Maseko.

Due to the incident there were calls for Katlego to be dropped from his Outsurance deal and from Espresso. If you have lived under a rock for the better part of the year, then #MustFall movement would be new to you. But the problem with the #MustFall movement is it does not allow for room for someone to take the “L” and move on having learnt better. And this was almost what happened to Katlego.

This was especially the issue when over and above the cheating story; there came allegations of physical ab_se. It was alleged that Katlego has a temper and takes it out on his wife. However, in statement Katlego has released he has categorically denied the abuse allegations. With the Espresso personality explaining that the two are separating, so baby girl is slinging all kinds of mud in an effort to smear his name.

And it almost worked because like most moments of anger, when it dissipates sense reigns. And it seems that is what has happened on social media with the latest unfolds in the ongoing #ChenchaSaga. It seems that tweeps have come to the defense of Katlego following news of Outsurance dropping him from their brand. Tweeps have called out the insurance company for wanting to fire him for cheating on his wife.
