AKA’s Assassination: A Tragic Loss for the South African Music Industry

The South African music industry has been thrown into mourning following the assassination of Kiernan Jared Forbes, popularly known as AKA. On Friday, 10th of February, the rapper was shot dead on Florida road in Durban, alongside his friend, Tibz, who was also killed in the attack.
The CCTV footage of the incident, which was widely shared on social media, has generated a lot of buzz and speculation from internet detectives. However, Lt-Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi confirmed in a recent interview that the rapper was assassinated, and provided details of the shooting and how it affected Tibz.
“He did not shoot the friend that was with him, but he shot AKA twice, and he ran away. The other criminal engaged and fired a couple of shots, and one of his bullets managed to strike Motsoane, and he died,” Mkhwanazi explained.
In the aftermath of AKA’s death, there were rumors and speculations about the involvement of the late Anele Nelli Tembe’s family. However, her father, Moses Tembe, has since come out to deny any involvement and express his condolences to the Forbes family.
“We’ve never judged Kiernan. We demonstrated our love for him to his very last day. We are saddened by this sad eventuality as it robs of us an opportunity we have been waiting for so patiently to vindicate our daughter in court or in an inquest,” Tembe said in a statement.
The tragic loss of AKA is a huge blow to the South African music industry, as he was one of its most influential and successful artists. He leaves behind his parents, Tony and Lynn Forbes, his daughter Kairo, and countless fans and colleagues who will miss him dearly.
The circumstances of AKA’s death are a stark reminder of the dangers that face public figures, and the need for adequate security measures to be put in place to protect them. We hope that justice will be served, and that his family and loved ones will find the strength to cope with this devastating loss.
