In a startling turn of events, a shocking incident unfolded in Gauteng, leaving South Africans completely blown away. The South African Police Service in Gauteng has issued a media statement regarding the arrest of three suspects, aged 36, 38, and 40, who are set to appear in court on Monday, 30 August 2021.
The suspects are facing charges of attempted hijacking, possession of unlicensed firearms, and impersonating the police. The arrest took place in Kempton Park R21 Highway, Johannesburg, following the observant actions of the Crime Prevention Unit of Kempton Park on Thursday morning, 26 August 2021, around 08:30.
Authorities were alerted about a white Toyota Corolla, occupied by three individuals dressed in Metro police uniforms, driving on the R21 Kempton Park. Acting swiftly on the information, police officers located and stopped the vehicle. During the encounter, one suspect attempted to flee but was apprehended.
Upon conducting a search of the vehicle, two unlicensed firearms were discovered. It was also revealed that the vehicle had been equipped with blue lights. All three suspects were promptly arrested and taken into custody.
