According to recent reports, Fikile Mbalula, the Secretary General of the African National Congress (ANC), has expressed his interest in reinstating the “Scorpions,” a crime and corruption unit formerly known as the Priority Crimes Directorate.
The Scorpions were renowned for their high conviction rate of 92%.
Mbalula believes that reintroducing this unit could help combat corruption within the South African government.
However, Dudu Zuma, the daughter of former South African President Jacob Zuma, responded to Mbalula’s proposal with a cautionary message.
She views the Scorpions as a political tool that was allegedly utilized to target and eliminate political adversaries.
Dudu Zuma issued a warning to Mbalula, suggesting that if the Scorpions were reinstated, he would likely be their first victim.
She took to Twitter, writing, “You Will Regret It Because This Political Tool Will Start With You…”

The formidable Scorpions claimed a number of high-profile scalps, including ex-Fidentia boss J Arthur Brown. But, ominously, they also tackled the politically corrupt — including Schabir Shaik, Jackie Selebi, Tony Yengeni and John Block.
