Zoleka Mandela, the beloved granddaughter of iconic anti-apartheid champions Nelson Mandela and Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, has sadly lost her life at the age of 43.

Her passing occurred on the eve of her grandmother’s 87th birthday, making it a poignant moment.

Zoleka had been waging a courageous battle against cancer, a fight she had been bravely enduring for an extended period.

On the 18th of September, she was admitted to the hospital for ongoing treatment, targeting cancer that had spread to various parts of her body, including her hip, liver, lung, pelvis, brain, and spinal cord.

A family statement conveyed that recent medical scans had revealed a substantial progression of the disease, along with complications such as lung fibrosis and multiple blood clots.

During her final moments, Zoleka was surrounded by the comforting presence of her loved ones and close friends.

Zoleka’s resilience and determination throughout her three bouts of cancer, including her bone metastasis diagnosis in August of the preceding year, are a testament to her unwavering spirit and strength.
