Azania speaks about the end of SABC 3’s Real Talk

In September, avid viewers of SABC 3’s Real Talk with Azania were shocked to have learned about the cancellation of the show just months after Azania had taken up the role as the host of the talk show after Anele’s exit.

Azania Mosaka, who hosts the show, was asked to share her thoughts on this subject when she was on Trending SA this week. She shared: “I was there for the duration of the end of the season. I was there to help them to finish the season because Anele left in the middle of the season.”

Azania said for her it was always about a contract until the end of October however, she sympathised with the other team members of the show who had planned their livelihoods around this show.

“… but there is a team of course to worry about, young people who made their plans around their jobs, around working there for another year…”

Anele’s sudden departure from the show in May raised a lot of eyebrows as the public could not understand why she had to leave so abruptly, especially considering how successful the show had become.

In a statement released by Anele, her reason for leaving Real Talk was mainly because she wanted to pursue her other career ambitions, the statement read:

“Real Talk with Anele has, since the beginning of season one, been exceptionally close to my heart and I have been enormously proud to work with SABC 3. I feel, for my own growth, it is time to leave the show and to focus on my career ambitions and prospects. I would like to thank SABC3, the viewers and everyone behind the show for the opportunity they afforded me through the show. Hopefully, this is not the end but see you later.” – said Anele Mdoda.
