Celebrity kids spotted at Lebo Mathosa biopic auditions

Auditions for BET Africa’s Lebo Mathosa biopic kicked off on Sunday with a few familiar faces standing in the long queues.

The Lebo Mathosa Story series is expected hit our screens later this year.

Producers said that the ideal woman for the role is “someone with a powerful voice, eye-catching dance moves and a sense of fashion that would make Lebo Mathosa proud”.

Arthur Mafokate was spotted at Sunday’s audition with his daughter Owami.

The 999 Music label boss told the Daily Sun that he wants Owami to learn more about the entertainment industry.

“Bringing them to auditions like this attracts the history that we have, so that they understand and learn to appreciate who they are through culture,” he said.

Somizi Mhlongo’s daughter Bahumi was also at the auditions.

Bahumi bagged her first major TV role in 2017 when she joined SABC 2’s Keeping Score.

The actress says that she has always admired Lebo. “I know that she has made an enormous difference in the entertainment industry,” she told the publication.

Dancer Zodwa also expressed interest in auditioning for the lead role but it is unclear if she turned up for the auditions. “I am ready! I am very keen, and the producers should give me a chance. I will audition for the role because I can do anything,” she told TshisaLIVE last week.

Social media users have been sharing their views on who they think would make the perfect Lebo Mathosa.

Babes Wodumo, Denise Zimba and Nomzamo Mbatha are just some of the names that have been mentioned.

The Lebo Mathosa Story will air on DStv’s channel 129 in September.
