Celebs who became Pastors

The entertainment industry is quite a demanding one, and quite often you find celebrities going into depression and losing heart after facing rejection.

But there are some celebrities who have taken it upon themselves to play the role of leaders in the industry for both celebrities and ordinary people, by becoming pastors, preaching and spreading the gospel through their major platforms.

We were first introduced to Khaya Mthethwa on Idols season 8 where he was very adamant about being a church goer and having a father as a pastor, little did we know that later in his career, after establishing his name, he would not only lead a congregation in singing but also in worship after his father passed on the baton to him to lead his church in December last year.

Former Jam Alley presenter now Pastor, Pushie is a celebrity we didn’t dream to see behind the pulpit but she has said that she discovered the calling in her second year of Bible collage and now leads many people to the Lord around the country under Rheme’s senior pastor.

Another celebrity who has turned his rhymes into a sermon is former TKZEE member Kabelo Mabalane who has had a 360 turn in his life both physically and spiritually.

Pastor Benjamin Dube has been preaching the gospel since day one, being an award-winning gospel artist is yet another thing that puts him up the ranks as a ZAleb, and having talented sons, also puts the Dube family on a higher pedestal.

Rebecca Malope might not be a pastor, but being a gospel artist and presenting TV and radio shows that give her a platform to spread the gospel is good enough for us to recognize her efforts.

Now this one might shock you just a tad bit but actress Phindile Gwala who is a preacher’s kid, has admitted to preaching on certain Sundays in an interview on Metro FM last year, and though she might not be an ordained pastor, she still tries to shift her focus on spreading the gospel.

“I preach on certain Sundays. I started last year in February. My parents are pastors, not the famous pastors or ones that give you snakes. It’s not one of those churches. It’s an old-fashioned church. I preach in Ecaleni, Tembisa and I am there every Sunday except when I am working out of town,” she said.
