Former Idols South Africa star Karabo Mogane took to social media to congratulate his sister, Mathabo Mogano after she got hitched. The singer shared a beautiful snap of him standing next to his sister who wore a beautiful wedding dress.
In March 2021, Karabo popped the big questions and asked his partner Sine Mbandazayo to marry him and she said YES!
Karabo won SA Idols in 2015 and has been a household name in the local music scene ever since. Chatting to Newzroom Afrka about life after the competition, the star admitted that being on the show made things easy for him until he had to be on his own.
“To be honest, being on Idols almost makes everything look easy because they do everything for you. When you step out you come into the real world and now you are in the music industry and understand what actually happens. You face a lot of challenges because a lot of the things you are accustomed to being done for you – you have to do for yourself. But I think for me it’s about having a solid team behind you, that believe in you and that really pushes for you as much as you push for yourself.” He opened up. “Being on Idols helped me a lot. It groomed me a lot. Some of the things I implement even today. I made a lot of friends and I made a lot of relationships as well.”
Some of his fans were not aware of this, but he slept at the state theatre so that he could get a chance to make it to the auditions the following day – talk about determination.
“To be honest, I got there at 8 pm the night before. So you sleep there because the queues are very long. We slept there, we woke up in the morning. We were queuing. You don’t get a chance to go home. You just carry gum and keep it moving. That’s what I did and eventually got a chance to audition at about noon. Already you are tired and the sun is hot. You’ve just been through a heck of a lot but because this is a dream that you have – it’s something that burns on the inside of you – you won’t let the circumstances stop you from achieving the goal that you want to achieve. But to be honest it was worth it. I’m sitting here as a winner,” he said.
