President Cyril Ramaphosa may have won the battle when he ousted Secretary-General Ace Magashule following the ratification of his temporary suspension, but the ANC’s fractures are manifesting elsewhere.
According to Newzroom Afrika journalist Mweli Masilela, a huge ally of President Ramaphosa survived an Assassination attempt on Monday. The chairperson of the Nelson Mandela Branch in BushBuckridge, Mpumalanga, Bhunu Malandule had a huge scare.
Malandule is a huge ally of the President, and was even part of the team that campaigned for CR17 back ahead of the Nasrec Elective conference which Ramaphosa emerged victorious.
The NEC meeting addressed the issue of political violence in Mpumalanga, which is primarily caused by the creation of parallel structures in branches by members.
As a solution, the NEC resolved that those who are behind these divisions should be subjected to thorough disciplinary action.
What do you make of the Assassination attempt on Malandule’s life?
