MURDER accused Nancy Majonhi (42) has died in hospital. She died on Saturday while in police custody.
She was supposed to appear in court for bail application on 16 November once her health had improved.
Nancy was arrested in August after she handed herself to the police for brutally killing her husband Prosper Chipungare in 2015 at Ledig Village outside Rustenburg, North West.
Majonhi was allegedly renting a room in Ledig, Pharama Section, North West with her husband and child in 2015 when a fight started and she hit her husband with a hammer.
She allegedly continued hitting him until he died. Then she took a spade and sliced his body into pieces and buried the parts in three different yards. Then she went and opened a missing person’s report.
On 25 August Daily Sun published the story after a skull and bones from the upper body of a human being were discovered in Ledig outside Rustenburg, North West.
A woman came forward to tell the cops that she had killed her husband and buried the remains in three different yards.
After the gruesome discovery, the suspect led the cops’ digging party to a second yard where she claims the legs of her husband were buried.
But it was getting dark and the digging had to be stopped.
The woman also claims there’s a third yard where some of the body parts were buried.
Early this month the suspect went to her family to confess that she killed her husband.
The North West NPA Spokesman Henry Mamothame said in such instances, the NPA awaits confirmation from the investigating officer in the form of a death certificate before closing the case.
North West Health Department spokesman Tebogo Lekgethwane said they can only confirm her death at this stage.
“We await full details of her passing, however we can confirm at this stage that she passed away in Moses Kotane Hospital.”
