King Goodwill Zwelithini to lie in state at Khethomthandayo Royal Palace

The Royal Family has confirmed the mortal remains of AmaZulu King Goodwill Zwelithini will lie in state at Khethomthandayo Royal Palace. The Zulu monarch passed away on Friday. Prime Minister of the AmaZulu nation, Mangosuthu Buthelezi, says he is devastated at the king’s passing.

I’m devastated. When we were together, when we were talking, whenever we joked, the two of us: I always reminded him that I knew my cousin, His Majesty King (Cyprian) Bhekuzulu, before he got married. I knew, my cousin because the king’s queen, buried here in Durban.

Queen Thomozile Jezangani Ndwandwe was my first cousin and I always said, I knew both my cousins before I even got married. It’s a devastating thing for me, to be the one that is now involved in the burial, when I expected him, in fact, to bury me. That’s how it goes, not the other way round. So I’m absolutely devastated.
