Mampintsha finally apologises to Babes Wodumo after being mobbed in public

Big Nuz musician and assault accused, Mampintsha released a statement over the weekend, in which he asked SA for forgiveness after a video of him slapping Babes Wodumo several times went viral two weeks ago.

Mampintsha has faced widespread outrage after Babes exposed the alleged abuse on Instagram Live. He has since been released on R2 000 after being arrested by police on assault charges and has laid a counter charge of assault against Babes.

Taking to Instagram on Saturday night, Mampintsha apologised to Babes, her family and the nation.

He said he was “beyond shameful and disappointed” for allowing his emotions get the better of him.

“South Africa, I’m sorry! I know many of you don’t want to hear it kodwa from the bottom of my heart, I would like to send my deepest and humblest apologies.”

Mampintsha said he would not discuss what led him to the situation as he did not want to “stoop so low” and paint a negative image about anyone.

“I am going to be attending counselling sessions to find the root cause of this and deal with it thoroughly.”

Mampintsha claimed to be in a dark place but said he had to face this like a man and “fix this almost broken image”

“To Bongekile Simelane and the whole Simelane family, to our leaders and in this country, to my colleagues and fellow industry artists, to the general public, once more especially to our women, to my family and God, I’d like to say I’m really sorry and regret everything. Please forgive me.”

Then just hours after releasing the statement Mampintsha topped the Twitter trends list yet again after video footage of him being mobbed by patrons at Cubana in Pietermaritzburg went viral.

In the video clips, Mampintsha could be seen being pushed around by chanting patrons.
