The whole country was shocked and saddened by the news of the passing of King Goodwill Zwelithini. Unfortunately, it looks like his soul may not rest in peace after he was called all sorts of names by Mondli Makhanya.
Mondli Makhanya is the editor-in-chief City Press. Makhanya said that King Zwelithini was “apartheid’s useful idiot” I’m the hands of the apartheid government. Allegedly, on the eve of South Africa becoming a democracy, King Zwelithini made an agreement with the National Party to reduce poor people to second class citizens.
The National Party is the party that implemented apartheid. The NP was founded in 1914 and disbanded in 1997.
King Zwelithini has never challenged the apartheid injustices at all. All he cared about was having power and control over KZN.
Even though majority of people agreed with Makhanya, they thought that it was very inappropriate and disrespectful to call him out when he is no longer here to defend himself.
According to the City Press editor-in-chief Mondli Makhanya, the late Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini was "apartheid’s useful idiot" in the hands of apartheid govt.
