Muvhango’s Marang Can’t Act

Muvhango’s Marang still hasn’t cracked her part since she joined Muvhango. It’s so typical of the show to cast untalented, beautiful women: with the exception of Matshidiso, Gugu, and Imani.

Matshidiso is a whole package; the body, the brains, the looks, and talent. She’s exactly what American’s imagine when they say “an African, talented beautiful actress”.

Marang was so annoying when she started still is. I couldn’t stomach the American accent when she spoke English. She still does it but has toned it down. She used to throw her hands in the air aaaaalllloooootttt. Remember in the ’90s when we used to watch Matete and Nkusheng on Bophelo ke Semphekgo? She and Skeem Saam’s Cindy would be perfect on a show like that; some sotho/tswana drama on SABC 2, straight after Lithapo. They could even be sisters.

Then she had this “runway model Naomi Campbell” catwalk and it just lit up my emotions like a Christmas tree. She spoke English all the time on the show, its Muvhango, a Venda soapie not The Legacy on Mnet.

I’m so glad someone whispered in her ear to tone down the ‘American dramatic centric’. Yes, she was in the States and did some shows there but this is South Africa and you’re watched by South Africans. Her character is from Mafikeng, not America.

When they paired Marang up with KK it was like a comedy show because KK Mulaudzhi is so dramatic with that ego-centric laugh and those ridiculous suits. They suited each other way better than with her current partner James Motsamai.

James is more serious and stern and requires a serious woman like Gugu or Imani who’s just as beautiful but more talented. In fact, the show should switch-up the couples; James and Matshidiso should date because they’re such great friends and Marang should go back to KK where her character would disappear.
