DJ Zinhle has opened up about the bullying she faced and constantly faces on social media.
Being in the public eye brings a lot of attention into the lives of Zalebs, and of course if you have everything going right for you, you will be subjected to scrutiny and criticism.
DJ Zinhle is on a high right now, from having the number 1 hit in the country with Umlilo, to launching her furniture brand ‘Jiyane Atelier’ and jewellery line ‘Era By Zinhle’, she also recently graced the cover of Cosmopolitan. One thing she is also most proud of is finally finishing off the house she started building 3 years ago.
She spoke to Isolezwe on the bullying she faces on social media and how often times celebrities have only themselves to blame.
The Umlilo hit-maker often minds her business on social media and is never one to respond to any negativity. She told the newspaper how shocked she was when the whole incident surrounding herself and AKA getting back together erupted on the internet.
“I have gone through the most on social media more than any other celebrity. But we often do it to ourselves, we do this recklessly and not intentionally,” she said.
DJ Zinhle made an example about the time she posted a picture of herself and AKA all over social media when they got back together. With the backlash she received from trolls, she says she regretted posting. Hence proving her point that celebrities bring it upon themselves sometimes.
The DJ also talked about how the negative articles and social media bullying help her grow as a person, but made it clear that she benefits from the positives rather than the negatives. The entrepreneur does not discredit social media completely, as she says it is how she grows her business and opportunities present themselves sometimes through social media.
She reckons that working with industry greats such as DJ Black Coffee and Oskido have helped her overcome the hardships that cpme eith being in the public eye.
