Connie Chiume, who played Mamokete on Rhythm City, says the passing of Jamie Bartlett is a huge loss to the television industry.
Speaking to Newzroom Afrika, Chiume says she last spoke to her former co-star on Friday to invite him to her upcoming birthday celebration, which he was elated about.
“Very, very devastating news indeed. I don’t even know what to say, I’m still shivering after the news that I got last night because I spoke to Jamie on Friday, asking him if he could join me on my birthday in two weeks time and I wanted him to be on the poster with me. He was so excited, he even sent me three pictures instantly, so you can imagine how shocked I was when I got the news yesterday. It is a big loss to the South African industry, the continent and dare I say, the world. That was one of the talents in our country” – Connie Chiume
