Job Description
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Internal / Operational Processes • Advise DAS Department and IDC on developing strategies and implementation plans that will assist to improve youth participation levels and approvals in IDC transactions • Help develop an IDC pipeline of viable youth-owned businesses • Collaborate with internal IDC business units including SME-Connect to optimize youth funding opportunities • Increase the basic understanding and overview of challenges and opportunities s related to youth enterprises • Facilitate the dissemination of youth enterprise-related knowledge throughout the organization • Provide support in respect of developing indicators in respect of youth related outcomes. • Provide youth enterprise related training, in conjunction with Learning & Development Department, to ensure that youth expertise is covered in their training of IDC professionals • Provide ad-hoc advisory services to internal stakeholders (Employment Equity Forum and Youth Development Committee)

• Provide support in respect of developing indicators in respect of youth related outcomes • Provide monitoring support in respect of youth related outcomes achieved • Facilitate business support to SBU’s and clients in line with the Business Support Program as and when required • Assist in the preparation of youth related reporting on behalf of IDC • Assist in identifying opportunities to develop youth controlled companies in existing IDC investments, the private sector and through IDC procurement processes. • Build relations and networks across the country with various levels of stakeholders in order to create, promote and maintain a good and professional image of the IDC. This will include working with the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (dtic) and other relevant government departments where require Job Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: • A relevant Bachelor’s degree (B. Com, B. Admin, B. Social Sciences; LLB) with a Post-Graduate qualification KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE; • A minimum of 8 years’ experience in youth enterprise development is essential • knowledge of the BEE Act, Codes of Good Practice, sector charters and the PPPFA particularly related to youth participation • Extensive knowledge and experience in youth policy matters including formulation, and understanding of current debates in the youth development and enterprise space TECHNICAL/FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES • Ability to work under pressure • Planning and organising • Entrepreneur and Commercial thinking ability • Ability to lead and take decisive actions • Ability to prepare reports • Ability to identify business opportunities • Networking ability BEHAVIOUR COMPETENCIES • Presentation and communication skills • Relationship building and networking • Interpersonal skills • Persuasion and Influencing skills
