Gender-based vi_lence (GBV) is a profound and widespread problem in South Africa, impacting on almost every aspect of life. GBV (which disproportionately affects women and girls) is systemic, and deeply entrenched in institutions, cultures and traditions in South Africa.

It is terribly grievous that every week social media platforms trends should embrace a woman’s name killed within the hands of a person.

This week a forty six year-old girl named Philisiwe Mvubu, from KwaMakhutha in KwaZulu Natal became a victim of such a cruel death within the hands of a person, a person she known as her husband. this can be a person she knew, dear and lived with.

She was sadly dead before of her kid, by her husband. She was injured with a knife associate degreed take away items with an angle grinder, barred within the house and left to die.

Her body was discovered by neighbours with multiple stab wounds, this can be when a10 year-old boy alerted them that he found blood stains outside the victim’s barred house in KwaMakhutha.

Her husband later handed himself to the police.

This is terribly unhappy and therefore the reality is she will not be the last one to be a victim of such crime.
