Since 2021 started we have not seen much arrests in terms of corrupt officials, but it seems like that is about to change.
“It can no longer be business as usual. The political executive of the municipality must step up and hold officials to account for flouting the Municipal Finance Management Act, It is the duty of the municipality to spend their budget prudently on service delivery, not only to improve the lives of all residents, but to create a conducive environment to stimulate investment. “ said Smalle.
Following the DA’s loud cry and request for the Hawks to look into the municipalities which are ran by the ANC, it looks like things are not looking good for the ANC. Earlier this year, the DA provincial leader of Limpopo Jacques Smalle, made a loud cry that in the last 10 years…no municipal has been found guilty of mismanagement of funds and/corruption which is something that is very odd, because the communities do not see much developments while huge funds are allocated each year, and wondered if the justice system(particularly the Hawks) are intentionally turning a blind eye- and ever since then, the Hawks have disappeared and it seems now they are back and ready for action.
The Hawks have done a massive raid across Limpopo, and one municipal in Phalaborwa did not survive the raid as laptops as well as documents including financial reports were seized immediately. It is said that the corruption there, sums up to around R30 million. They are yet to release a statement but the DA is pretty happy with the Hawks action because this will kill the chances of ANC cementing itself there, in the next elections
