UKHOZI FM apparently came to a standstill yesterday morning when a DJ collapsed in the studio.
According to an insider, DJ Zimiphi “Zimdollar” Biyela collapsed while hosting the Kwasa Okungaliyo show. The insider said when DJ Siya Mhlongo arrived to host the 4am to 5am slot, he found Zimdollar lying on the floor.
The source said she wasn’t talking or moving.
“He asked for help and called an ambulance. Zim Dollar was not talking or moving. Nobody could pour water on her because water is not allowed in the studio,” said the source.
“It was a sad and confusing moment. Siya couldn’t host his show. He had to play music for the whole hour.”
Another insider said the ambulance took a long time to arrive and by the time the Current Affairs crew arrived, Zimdollar had not yet received help.
“The Current Affairs show was delayed for half and hour until Zimdollar was removed by paramedics,” said the source.
Ukhozi FM acting station manager Sbonginhlanhla Ngcobo asked Daily Sun to contact SABC spokeswoman Neo Momodu. Momodu declined to comment and said the SABC affirms that it respects the confidentiality of contracts entered into with the independent contractors.
