Ukhozi FM gives Mampintsha airtime to tell his side of the story

Ukhozi FM opened up the industry in a whole new way, on Tuesday evening when they let Mampintsha, the accused in the Babes Wodumo case share his side of the story.

Not too long before the radio interview took place, Mampintsha was in court Tuesday morning awaiting his bail hearing-which was then reported to have been set at R2,000. Yes, that’s right just R2,000. One of the conditions of his bail was to ex-communicate with Babes.

And if appearing in court wasn’t enough to fill the Afrotainment star’s time, he then filed a counter claim to the abuse allegations Babes had set on him. Mampintsha spoke to the press outside the courts to let them know that, in actuality, Babes was the one who was abusive and the video was only evidence of him defending himself.

When the statement was made, Mampintsha was accompanied by his close friends and his lawyer, who claims that, there was a lot more happening behind closed doors than what the public has seen. Which he believes gives reason for the counter-charge.

They say “Every guilty person is his own hangman” and if there is any truth to the saying, Mampintsha should have quit while he was ahead. But unfortunately, the accused made a stop at Ukhozi FM radio station to fill the public in on Babes’ character in real life.

It seemed surprising to some that the radio station let Mampintsha have this opportunity to share his side of the story. When initially, it seemed that Ukhozi FM were taking action against women’s abuse and had planned to mute his music after the video became viral.

Mampintsha seized the opportunity to amuse the public and explain in detail, Babes’ true “behavior” and character away from the cameras. He claimed that Babes’ family (who have been prominent in the media as of late, on Babes’ behalf), knew about the abuse that was done to him by her. He then stated that Babes was a drug addict and an alcoholic and was not only abusive to him but to Afrotainment staff and dancers.

Babes Wodumo’s father later joined in on the conversation, on Ukhozi FM and stated that Mampintsha was a liar. Babes’ father (currently known as Mr Wodumo on social media) had then said that Babes would’ve only ever hit Mampintsha in self defence and pleads with the star, to leave his daughter alone.

Mampintsha continued to assassinate Babes’ character and stated in the interview, that all he was doing during their relationship was helping Babes’ family financially and that when the money came rolling in, Babes’ behaviour changed and she become “unmanagable”.

It’s all a little too much for us to chew but it’s looking like Mampintsha would say just about anything to save face. When just yesterday, a media statement made the rounds on social media supposedly from Mampintsha and Babes, claiming that the video was all just a media stunt to bring awareness to domestic violence. Clearly, trying to take a queue from Nomuzi and her don’t drink and drive campaign.

Whether, the statement was real or not-the people of Mzansi were listening and took to social media to talk about Mampintsha’s own behaviour on Ukhozi FM.

We can only hope that justice will be served, accurately and fairly but as the story develops, we will be there to fill you in.
