Uzalo Fikile Actress’ ‘Insensitive’ Post About “Broke Women” Raises Eyebrows

Actress and media personality Nelisa Mchunu who plays the role of Fikile on SABC 1 soapie Uzalo, raised a few eyebrows after a social media post which some regarded as insensitive. In the post, Nelisa seems to be encouraging women to step up saying that men are tired of ‘broke,’ and ‘poor and lazy women.’

Writing on social media platform Twitter, the Fikile actress said,

I don’t know who needs to see this but Men are also tired of dating broke, demanding, uneducated, poor and lazy women. Step up sis!!

It seems likely that perhaps, the message did not come out as Nelisa intended it. The post caused mixed reactions among social media followers. Many people did not react well to the post and regarded is as insensitive and coming from the position of privilege. Some reminded the actress that there are many talented and highly qualified women who are currently struggling due to a lack of opportunities.
