South African rapper AKA was recently booked to perform in Malawi over the weekend and all seemed to be going well until the crowd’s behaviour became intolerable.
The rapper was crowd surfing and some people in the crowd started stealing his clothes off of him. Luckily security spotted this soon and they were able to get him out of the crowd. They were able to get away with only his sneakers.
Footage of AKA’s misfortune after he was mobbed and robbed has been doing the rounds on social media. Rapper AKA is fuming after he was robbed while on tour in Malawi over the weekend. The super mega was in Malawi at the Malawi University#MDNnews pic.twitter.com/F9axaIWs13

Today marked exactly one year since AKA lost his beloved fiancee Nellie Tembe. In honour of her memory, AKA shared a heartfelt post on his Instagram praying for the healing of his family and Nellie’s family.
“I’ll remember this day for the rest of my life. 11/04/2021. Everyday I pray for the healing of your family and my family. I hope one day we can all come together and pay our respects to you and your memory at the same place and at the same time.”
Back in June, AKA real name Kiernan Forbes took to social media to share a snippet of a song we he wrote for his late fiancée Nellie Tembe title Tears Run Dry.
In the track, AKA opens up about how hard it has been for him to wake up with Nellie, not by his side. Although some parts were a bit harder to hear, check out the lyric to the song below (According to our interpretation).
First thing on my mind/When I wake up.
I cannot feel sunshine with you not waking up by my side.
Nothing else can replace us. Try to break down and cry, but all my tears run dry.
We left out some parts of the hook that were harder to hear. Check out the verse below.
I was you in my dreams
(Second line was unclear to us)
Not because I don’t want to link up with you again
But because when I wake up reality Is deep.
Check my phone I reach I could see usual routine
Damn, we had so many plans mfanagithi
And I call you that because you my bestie not my bi**t
When I got to bed you gon remind me brush your teeth
That’s my favourite version of you, you were just at ease
I found the most beautiful girl I had ever seen.
During AKA’s interview which was on The Bat Leader TV following Nellie’s passing, the rapper answered some of the burning questions the public demanded at the time.
“As a couple, we did have a very tumultuous relationship. We both very passionate people. We passionately loved each other, very much. That is why we wanted to build our whole lives together. But I think passion goes both ways in this case,” he said about their relationship.
He revealed that on the day of Nellie’s passing they spoke about a variety of issues.
“Disagreements that we had could be quite intense. On that day when we were speaking, it was about a variety of issues in our relationship. Issues I don’t feel I want to lay bare because Anele is not here to speak for herself. Anele is not here to give her side of the story. But what I can tell you is, it was like any other relationship which there were problems and issues and insecurities.”
