Robert Marawa speaks out after being fired by SuperSport

The news of Robert Marawa’s sudden dismissal from his job on SuperSport on Friday caused an ongoing debate that occurred throughout the whole weekend about the powers that be at SuperSport.

Many South Africans, including fellow broadcasters such as the likes of Phat Joe, immediately reached out to the renowned sports anchor to empathise and offer their support to Robert.

In a ten minute interview on Phat Joe’s show on Radio 2000, Robert shared his concerns about the future of broadcasting in this country and revealed that he almost lost his life because of the things he’s experienced as a broadcaster.

While listening to the interview, we were shocked to learn that last year, Robert Marawa was in the intensive care unit (ICU) due to the unfavourable situations he experienced at work.

The conversation of him revealing that he was in ICU stemmed from Phat Joe raising his concerns about Robert’s tweet when he tweeted that he can’t wait for the truth to come out. Robert then explained that because of his work, he had a serious health scare last year in June.

“People don’t know what it is that I’ve had to do. I’ve been threatened, I was in I.C.U in June, July last year. My sister was shattered, when she walked in, she saw a corpse but people don’t know that because I don’t talk about it. But the thing is, if my life had to end because of a passion and the job that I do, then so be it.”

Robert has been receiving a lot of love and support from many of his followers as he continues to fight for the credibility and integrity of broadcasters in South Africa.
