SA Media and Television personalities Khanyi Mbau and Uyanda Mbuli, are calling for South Africans to join them in signing a petition for schools to be closed, for the remainder of the 2020 academic year.
This follows after the Department of Education, recently announced that grades 7 and 12, would return back to school on May 6.
Michael Warren who started the petition said children, cannot return to a stressful environment that risks their health or lives furthermore, they are going to be cramming copious amounts of work which will affect their grades and mental health.
The petition, which aims at getting 200.000 signatures is already sitting at more than 161,000 signatures.
The curve has not flattened , we are still fighting the invisible enemy, if churches are still a no go for adults why should children go outside and fight this virus. Please help us keep them safe by clicking and signing in support https://t.co/zObxcrTSpZ #ForTheKids
