Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi Reveals What She Thinks Of Women Who Wear Weaves

Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi has revealed what she thinks of women who wear weaves and who prefer not having their natural hair.

Zozibini who has been on a natural hair journey for at least three years was put on the spot by a social media user who was trolling women who wear hair extensions such as weaves and wigs. The Twitter user went as far as suggesting that Miss Universe should teach women to love their own natural hair.

The ‘natural hair activist’ responded to a post in which Zozi was congratulating the new recently crowned Miss South Africa Shudufhadzo Musida by suggesting that women should follow in Miss Universe and Miss South Africa’s footsteps. He wrote,

@zozitunzi Niyabavithiza straight ngoku aba sisi be weave. Masithembe nalo sisi uzonyathela ezinyathelweni zakho abe ngu Miss Universe

@abigailmusida Ndo dakala zwa huri vhathu vha zwo tshi divha huri having a weave thohoni doesn’t mean you’re beautiful. You’re beautiful.

Zozibini used the opportunity to emphasize that women are free too choose whatever hairstyle they want and feel comfortable in. Without sugar coating her words, Miss Universe said that all women are beautiful regardless of whether they have natural hair or weaves. She added that all women should be celebrated regardless of their choices of hairstyle.

“It’s actually not about that. It’s about autonomy. The ability of women expressing themselves however they choose to. It’s about saying we are all beautiful in our natural hair and in weaves for those who choose to. It’s not a competition but a celebration of ALL Women”
