A tragic incident unfolded in Braamfontein as an off-duty South African Police Service (SAPS) officer shot and killed a Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) officer during an argument in a nightclub parking lot.
The cause of the clash has been revealed, indicating that the dispute was over a woman.
Video footage of the shocking incident has circulated widely on social media, eliciting various reactions from the public.
The shooting has been confirmed by authorities, with the JMPD officer tragically declared dead at the scene after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds.
JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla confirmed that an altercation occurred between the two officers when the deceased, who was allegedly attempting to leave the parking lot, was confronted by the SAPS officer.

The argument escalated, resulting in the fatal shooting.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) has also confirmed the incident and is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting and the subsequent death. However, the identities of those involved cannot be disclosed at this stage.
Insiders familiar with the situation have revealed that the traffic officer’s untimely death was triggered by a romantic entanglement.
The woman involved, who was reportedly dating the traffic cop, was present in the car with the SAPS officer, her former partner.
When the traffic officer arrived and discovered his girlfriend with her ex, tensions escalated, leading to the exchange of gunfire.

According to a source close to the matter, the traffic officer did not intend to shoot but drew his weapon as he attempted to drive away while being blocked by the SAPS officer and his companion.
The source emphasized that the traffic officer was not a violent person and expressed sadness that he lost his life over such a trivial matter.

Questions have also been raised regarding the well-being of the woman’s child, who was left unattended during the nighttime incident.
The investigation into this tragic incident continues, and authorities are yet to make any arrests.
