Lorch’s hefty monthly salary at Pirates revealed

His on-field performance has not exactly been the same since he was crowned the PSL Footballer of the Season two campaigns ago, but one thing Thembinkosi Lorch has found himself doing is smiling all the way to the bank.

Despite finding himself in the media for all the wrong reasons of late, first for a breach of the team’s protocols prior to reporting for the BSE [bio-safety environment] bubble last season, and then being suspended after being arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, Lorch has accumulated quite an impressive fortune over the years, thanks to his career as a professional footballer.

The 27-year-old Bafana Bafana international started out his career at Maluti FET College in 2013, and has seen his market value rise over the years to where it currently stands at €800,000, which is over R15 million, according to Transfer Market.

Lorch is among the highest paid players at the Buccaneers, pocketing just under R200,000 a month, though that’s a long way off to the likes of Jappy Jele and new signings Thulani Hlatshwayo and Deon Hotto, who are said to be raking in between R300,000 and R500,000 a month.

Based on his current contract with the Sea Robbers, Lorch reportedly takes home an annual salary of close to R2 million, excluding bonuses and endorsement deals with brands like PUMA, Calvin Klein and Cartrack South Africa.
