Grandfather Accused of R_ping 12-Year-Old Stepdaughter Released on Bail, Claims Consensual Relationship

Grandpa who allegedly r_ped his 12-year-old stepdaughter is released after claiming she consented!

An 81-year-old man, Monnawaletsatsi Rams Sarefo, has been released on bail after being accused of r_ping his 12-year-old stepdaughter. He contends that their relationship was consensual and that she initiated it.

During a court appearance for a status update, the prosecution informed the court that they are awaiting a psychiatric evaluation report. Sarefo’s defense attorney previously requested an evaluation, suspecting that he may be suffering from dementia.

According to Sarefo’s defense attorney, Charles Tlagae, the prosecution has been causing delays by repeatedly postponing the case due to the unavailability of the evaluation report.

Tlagae stated that they intend to retract the plea of guilty and apply for bail while waiting for the prosecution to organize their case.

Granting Sarefo bail, Chief Magistrate Thebeetsile Mulalo considered the fact that the accused and the complainant do not reside in the same household, concluding that the state would not suffer any prejudice if he were released.

The case is scheduled for a status update on June 22nd, 2023.
